Salvation the LAW and the Heart

I would venture to say that the majority of the people you talk to today would tell you they love God and that they are a Christian, but the truth is that is not true. So many have head knowledge of God, and yet it is the heart God is looking at. The bible says, “This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.” (Matt 15:8). Then Jesus said in John 14:15 If you love me keep my commandments. The truth is most love themselves more than God, and that is Idolatry. A person who is never brought to the place where they see the immensity of their SIN (crime) in light of Gods law and claims salvation by faith has NOT believed unto life eternal. For by the law is the knowledge of sin (Rom 3:20), and a man MUST realize that he is a sinner and that because he is he is condemned to a devils hell. Man from the beginning has been tempted in three says: (1) the lust of the flesh (2) the lust of the eyes (3) and the pride of life (1 John 2:16). It is in accordance with these three ways, that man since the fall, has worshiped himself as god. Mans greatest desire is to satisfy self, and that my friend is idolatry. Take for instance the account of the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:4-30). Notice in that account that the woman was an adulteress and was living in whoremongery to the satisfying of her flesh. Then notice that this is the exact thing our Lord confronted her with, for thou shalt not commit adultery. Jesus showed that woman her sins (crimes) in the light of Gods law; for by the law is the knowledge of sin. At that well that woman believed on life eternal. She had turned from serving the idol of self, to serve the living and true God. Next let’s examine the account of the rich young ruler (Matt 19:16-23). The young man comes to Jesus saying master how can I have eternal life. Jesus again confronts the individual with the law and begins quoting it to the young ruler. The young mans response was, “Master all these have I kept from my youth!” Then Jesus said unto him, “Go sell all that thou hast and give it to the poor.” The bible records that the young ruler departed from Jesus sorrowful, and why? Because He coveted his riches more than God, he chose the satisfying of himself (idolatry) rather than repentance unto eternal life; for thou shalt not covet. Repentance is NOT merely a change of mind as some would have you to believe, but rather it is a change of mind that produces a change of heart. For that rich young ruler knew Jesus was the Christ, but in his heart he coveted the things of this world over the things of God. He chose the satisfying of self over God (Idolatry). Jesus said in(Luke 9:23) if any man will come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily, and follow me. The bible says that God knoweth the heart, and Rom 10:10 says, “With the heart man believeth unto righteousness.” Paul said He preached Repentance toward God and Faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21). Jesus said, Except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish (Luke13:3). Many will go to hell by around 18 inches, because they believe in their head, but God doesn’t look at the head; He looks at the heart. Jeremiah 17:9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
